In 2015, 687,000 healthcare acquired infections (HAI) were reported in U.S. acute care hospitals. Of those, 72,000 patients died during their hospitalization.  

Not only are lives being lost, hospitals are spending billions of dollars on HAI medical costs. Annually, U.S. hospitals are spending $28.4-$33.8 billion on medical costs associated with HAIs. But, by having a prevention plan, hospitals save $5.7 billion to $31.5 billion in HAI costs.
